The sequel: Attacked police officer at Notre Dame wanted revenge for Syria
French prosecutors have opened an investigation into the attack at Notre-Dame Cathedral on the police under article “terrorism”. It is reported BFMTV.
According to the preliminary police report, the assailant was armed with a hammer and two knives. Around 16:00 local time (17:00 GMT) in front of the Cathedral, the unknown man attacked with a hammer one of the men guarding the approach to the temple patrol. A police officer received a minor injury.
The other guard shot the attacker and killed him.
The scene has been cordoned off, the area of interrupted traffic, closed nearby subway station. The Cathedral contains several hundreds of visitors, who, as promised, the police will be able to leave it after completion of investigation and necessary checks.
On 3 February armed with machetes the man attacked one of the soldiers of the army patrol guarding the building of the Louvre in Paris. The soldier was injured, his companions opened fire on the attacker, who was seriously wounded. The authorities viewed the attack as a terrorist attack.
