The Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation said about possible retaliatory measures in connection with the accession of Montenegro to NATO

The foreign Ministry announced the country’s ongoing “anti-Russian hysteria”.

Moscow. June 5. INTERFAX.RU — Moscow reserves the right to retaliate, in connection with a hostile line of Podgorica on the background of the formal completion of membership of Montenegro in NATO.

“Continuing in Montenegro anti-Russian hysteria only causes us regret. In light of the hostile lines of the Montenegrin authorities, the Russian side reserves the right to retaliate on the basis of reciprocity. In politics, as in physics, every action generates a reaction,” — said in the comments of the Department of information and press of the Russian foreign Ministry issued on Monday.

The responsibility for this situation, as stated by the foreign Ministry, lies entirely on the Montenegrin side.

“In view of the unprovoked initiative of the accession of Montenegro to the anti-EU March 2014 the Russian Federation undertook a symmetrical steps in August of 2015”, — stated in the message.

Today, Montenegro will officially become the 29th member of the Alliance. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, along with U.S. Undersecretary of state for political Affairs Thomas Shannon will take part in the handover ceremony, the U.S. state Department in the presence of Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dusko Markovic instrument of accession to this Balkan Republic into the Alliance.
