Russia demanded that the US clarification on sanctions against the DPRK

Moscow expects to receive from US an explanation of the sanctions imposed against Russian companies because of their ties with the DPRK. This was at a meeting of the security Council of the world organization, said the Deputy permanent representative of Russia to the UN Vladimir Safronkov.

“I would like to hear an explanation from the American side in relation to the announced on June 1, the extension of us sanctions against the DPRK, which was hit by three Russian companies and one citizen of our country. This step causes bewilderment and frustration,” — said Safronov on Friday.

The U.S. Treasury has imposed sanctions against several organizations and individuals for cooperation with North Korea’s development of missile and nuclear technologies. Under the restrictions were including two Russian companies — “Ardis-Bearing” and “Independent petroleum company”, as well as a citizen of Russia Igor Michurin.

The Russian foreign Ministry earlier said that developing a response to the United States restrictions. The Kremlin complained that the established sanctions will affect relations between Moscow and Washington.

On the night of 3 June, the UN Security Council unanimously approved a resolution expanding sanctions against North Korea. The document envisages the inclusion in the sanctions list of four organizations and ten individuals, who could work abroad in the interests of Pyongyang.

At the end of last year the President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a decree banning shipments to the DPRK, weapons of all kinds. In addition, the ban includes materials and technologies that can be used in nuclear and rocket programs of Pyongyang.
