The President spoke about Moscow’s attitude to the quarrels around NATO

Russian President Vladimir Putin called NATO a tool of US foreign policy. The corresponding statement he made during a speech at the St Petersburg international economic forum (SPIEF) on Friday, June 2, RIA Novosti reported.

According to the head of state, he repeatedly raised the question of why there is an organization, which was created “as a tool of the cold war struggle with the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact”. “Now there is no Warsaw Pact, no Soviet Union, but NATO exists,” he said.

Putin also answered a question of journalists, whether favorable Moscow quarrels about the Alliance. “But in the sense that NATO might fall apart — then will help. But so far we do not see a collapse,” — said the Russian leader.

26 may, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the Alliance strengthen its defense is “a response to Russia’s actions”. However, he noted that the organization “strives for a better and more constructive relationship with Russia.”

A day earlier, the President of the United States Donald trump said that in the future, the Alliance needs to pay attention to in the first place-terrorism, migration issues, as well as “threats from Russia”.
