The head of VTB Andrey Kostin said that everyone is waiting for Vladimir Putin’s candidacy for the next presidential term. This opinion he expressed in his speech at the St. Petersburg international economic forum (SPIEF) on Friday, June 2, Interfax reports.
In his opinion, “it seems reasonable” the participation of Putin in the presidential campaign in 2018. Kostin referred to the fact that the President support the “70 percent or more” of the Russians. “With this level of support, probably, any political leader simply can not go on elections”, — said a top Manager.
“Probably, I will Express the General opinion that all expect that Mr. Putin will go to elections and win them quite easily in the first round”, he added.
Earlier Friday, press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov said that the government and other authorities after 2018 will depend on the outcome of the presidential campaign. He suggested that, “most likely, everything will be fine”.
In an interview with French newspaper Le Figaro, which was published on 31 may, Putin called premature the question whether he would run for another term.
May 4 all-Russia centre of studying of public opinion (VTSIOM) has published results of a survey, according to which the Russian leader approve 81.6% of the population. The disapproval of his activities was expressed by 12.9% of respondents.
