The Institute of preliminary inner-party voting works in Russia, said the leader of “United Russia” Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on the results of party primaries for the selection of candidates for regional and municipal elections.
Despite the fact that last Sunday’s primaries “United Russia” are not official elections, and the campaign itself does not refer to the Federal and regional agenda, citizens actively participated in the selection of party candidates in the elections and came to the polls, said the Prime Minister.
“This means that the institution of preliminary voting works,” – said Medvedev.
“The turnout in our primary election, provisional voting, it is even better than on the preliminary ballot for the elections to the State Duma in these respective regions”, – said the leader of United Russia.
United Russia will nominate for election only those candidates who won in the party elections. Nobody has the right to change the will of people who vote and choose candidates in the primaries, said Medvedev. “Who won (in the primaries. – RNS), who will be nominated (from the party),” said the Secretary General Council of “United Russia” Sergei Neverov.
May 28, United Russia has held primaries for the selection of candidates for elections in the six regional legislatures, 11 city councils and administrative centers, as well as on the elections to the state Duma on one-mandatory district of the Leningrad region (the winner of the Duma elections in this constituency, the speaker of the previous convocation Sergey Naryshkin has handed over its mandate and headed the foreign intelligence Service).
