GROZNY, may 30. /TASS/. The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has invited the President of France Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel to visit the country personally to assess the situation in the region.
About this Kadyrov said in his channel in the messenger Telegram.
“It is not necessary to accuse the Russian media of defamation, and by this time to be guided by false information. The French President Makron, taking Merkel, in search of truth may visit the Chechen Republic. Doors are open!”, – Kadyrov wrote.
The head of the Chechen Republic also cited a passage from the works of Griboyedov “Woe from wit” and stressed that it is addressed “to European leaders and all friends of them, and not defending the interests of his country.”
Macron informed during the press-conference after meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin said he intends to “be vigilant” against the human rights situation of the LGBT community in the Chechen Republic.
“Novaya Gazeta” on April 1 published an article “honour Killing”, which dealt with the detention and possible murder of inhabitants of the Republic because of their sexual orientation. The publication cited anonymous sources in law enforcement, and victims, whose names were not disclosed.
On 20 April, the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov told reporters that the allegations about the persecution of individuals based on sexual orientation in Chechnya can not be confirmed. Council under the head of Chechnya for the development of civil society and human rights stated that it had reviewed the publication and found even indirect confirmation of this information.
