Eugene Chudnovets announced his intention to run for the elections of the Sverdlovsk Governor

YEKATERINBURG, may 30. /TASS/. The teacher of the Mound Eugene Chudnovets, previously convicted for a repost of the video with the abuse of a child, said he plans to stand for elections of the Governor of Sverdlovsk region.

“I made the decision to go on elections of the Governor of Sverdlovsk region. Maybe someone takes me seriously, but I’m confident I can win this election, because I am a person purposeful, go to the end,” she said on Tuesday, TASS, adding that in the near future, begin collecting documents.

According to Chudnovets, its electoral programme, it plans to build on the interaction between society and government, as well as on the protection of the rights of wrongfully convicted. “Still in prison I thought about how I want to organize the work of society and government, to change lives for the better. As an ordinary person I can do very little, I would help another status, such as Deputy, but since the next gubernatorial election in my beloved Sverdlovsk region, I can’t miss this chance. I can make this post to change a lot, I have a lot of ideas,” she said.

Elections of the Governor of Sverdlovsk region will be held on September 10 in a single day of voting. Earlier the desire to stand for the post announced by the acting head of the region Yevgeny Kuyvashev and the mayor of Yekaterinburg Yevgeny Roizman.

Case Chudnovets

November 8, 2016 district court Kataysk (Kurgan oblast) recognized Chudnovets guilty of committing a crime under article of the criminal code “Distribution of materials with pornographic images of minors” because she posted in a social network “Vkontakte” the video, which mocked the young child in a children’s camp. According to the defense educators, the purpose of Chudnovets was to draw attention to another case of child abuse.

The court sentenced the teacher to 6 months of imprisonment.

On appeal the public Prosecutor of the Kurgan region court reduced the term from six months to five, despite the prosecution’s request to replace Chudnovets punishment on another, not connected with imprisonment. On 13 January she was serving a sentence in women’s penal colony in Nizhny Tagil (Sverdlovsk region).

On 23 February, the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Leonid Korzhinek has asked the Supreme court to overturn the verdict Chudnovets. It was canceled in the Kurgan regional court on 6 March, the same day she was released from the women prison of Nizhny Tagil.
