The Ministry of education has accused the protesters of pupils misunderstanding of the word “corruption”

The Minister of education of Russia Olga Vasilyeva expressed confidence that children should stay out of politics. So in an interview with radio station “Moscow speaking” she commented on the participation of adolescents in rallies against corruption, including inconsistent, held in March in several cities of Russia. Excerpts from an interview published on Friday, may 26.

“It’s a romantic part of the audience, this is a very sensitive part, young, who, naturally, wants to stand for the good against the bad (…). But to give even the definition of what corruption is, 70 percent could not”, — she stated.

Minister of education and science also stressed the need to work with someone who encourages children to go outside.

Earlier, on may 24, speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko said that Russia may ban the participation of minors in illegal demonstrations. In this regard, she made the possibility of introducing fines for parents of offenders. According to Matvienko, this issue is currently being addressed in the relevant committees of the upper house of Parliament, the final decision will be taken “in a broad dialogue with the public”.

March 26, in several cities of Russia held a rally against corruption. Some rallies, including one that took place in Moscow, was not sanctioned. The event on Tverskaya street in the centre of the capital, according to police, was attended by some seven or eight thousand people were detained over 600 demonstrators (such data led the head of Department of regional security and combating corruption Moscow Vladimir Chernikov). Among them were a few dozen teenagers.

This fact received wide publicity. In the Kremlin, commenting on the situation, suggested that children could promise a monetary reward for participation in protest actions.
