Russia will not respond to blocked sites in Ukraine, said Nikiforov

Russia will not impose sanctions against Ukraine in response to its sanctions on Russian IT companies, said the head of the Ministry Nikolai Nikiforov.

“We are against any sanctions. This is a very strange approach, especially in the digital world. It doesn’t work”, — said the Minister, answering the question, does Russia plan to meet on Ukraine sanctions against Russian IT companies.

In his opinion, for these sanctions to the Ukrainian authorities will have to answer to their own people.

The Minister also believes that Russian IT companies do not need support in connection with the imposition of sanctions.

“They need some support. It is a large, strong players, their capitalization in the billions of dollars they don’t need anyone’s support, all of them well,” said Nikiforov.

Earlier in may, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko approved the decision of the national security Council on the renewal and expansion of the list of natural and legal persons of the Russian Federation in respect of which the sanctions.
