Deputy foreign Minister of Russia Vasily Nebenzia can go to new York as Russia’s Ambassador to the UN this summer. This was Deputy foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov told reporters, reports TASS.
According to Gatilov, he will introduce in the state Duma the candidacy of Nebezi for the post of Ambassador on Thursday, may 25. The Deputy Minister added that the approval of the candidacy of Ambassador “the process is not a one-day”, as after the approval of the state Duma and the Federation Council, the candidate must affirm his decree the President.
The Deputy Minister expressed hope that the process will be completed “ASAP.”
Informed “RIA Novosti” with reference to a source in the Parliament reported that the international Committee of the state Duma on 25 may to consider the candidature of Deputy foreign Minister of Russia Vasily, Nebuni to the position of Russia’s permanent representative to the UN. At this close to the foreign Ministry of Russia, the interlocutor of RBC said that all procedures for the approval of Nebezi should be completed by the summer, and the diplomat will begin his duties this summer.
The position of Ambassador became vacant after the death of the permanent representative of Russia to the UN Vitaly Churkin. He died in new York in February. The diplomat held this position since April 2006.
