The head of the FSB revealed details about the search for terrorists in the Telegram

The head of the FSB of Russia Alexander Bortnikov at session of Council of heads of security bodies and special services of the CIS reported on the results of operational activities related to Telegram messenger. It is quoted by RIA Novosti.

According to Bortnikov, the Telegram used for communication by members of the international terrorist groups. The Minister said that as a result of these events, the security forces found that some of the terrorists are private groups in the Telegram.

“As a result of information received about specific terrorists, criminal ties in Russia and Central Asian countries used the means of communication, and reveals the plans, intentions and the likely place of their stay,” — says Bortnikov.

During a speech Bortnikov said that the exchange of information with the special services of the CIS helped to identify specific individuals suspected of involvement in terrorism who are in the ranks of primarily the Islamic state and “Dzhebhat EN-Nusra” (banned terrorist groups).

“In Russia liquidated sabotage-terrorist ISIS cell that planned terrorist attacks in places of mass stay of people using automatic weapons and improvised explosive devices,” he said. He added that “detained 10 terrorists — natives of Central Asia”.

Earlier on Wednesday, may 24, in the state Duma was introduced a bill to ban anonymity on the messengers. The authors — United Russia party Marina Mukabenova, Oleg Nikolaev from “Fair Russia” Alexander Yushchenko of the Communist party. MPs propose to establish the identity of user mobile phone number. In the case of the bill the messengers are to “limit the distribution and transmission of messages, containing information disseminated in violation of the requirements of the Russian legislation”. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in the suspension of messenger.
