“Dad, the Committee” proposed to collect child support from the initiators of divorce

Public movement “Paternal Committee” suggested to oblige to pay the alimony on the minor child of the initiator of divorce. The relevant amendment to the Family code was submitted for consideration of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and the state Duma Committee on family, women and children, reports RT.

“The introduction of these amendments will put an end to the practice where thousands of children have become a bargaining chip in disputes between their parents; put an end to the tyranny of unscrupulous mothers who are blackmailing the fathers divorce, knowing that the courts with a probability of 95 percent will take their side, no matter what the objective circumstances”, — said the head of the movement Igor Silver. Also the initiator of the divorce proposed to deprive the right to claim the children.

It is intended that this measure should come into force in controversial cases.

The leader of the movement “For the rights of women of Russia” Lyudmila Aivar in an interview with National news service (NSN) called the proposal a populist. “It does not matter who is the initiator of the divorce. If one party is behaving in bad faith in family relationships and not filing for divorce, it does not mean that the other party who can’t stand it anymore, filing for a divorce, is the person that destroyed a family,” she said.

In February, the justice Ministry proposed to stop the search of debtors alimony after a year of unsuccessful attempts to detect them. The Department explained that this will ensure timely protection of the rights of children to receive pensions for loss of breadwinner.
