The Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on language quotas on TV

The Verkhovna Rada adopted on second and final reading the law “On amendments to some laws of Ukraine concerning the language of audiovisual (electronic) mass media”. For the bill voted 269 deputies, against — 15.

The law stipulates increasing the share of broadcasts and films in the Ukrainian language at the national channels up to 75% per day, for regional and local broadcasters — at least 50%. March 20, the bill was passed in the first reading.
