“Elect against the accused Melamed and Ponurova a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest for six months”, — announced the decision of the judge Mariya Barabanova. Melamed allowed a three-hour daily walks in the area adjacent to his place of residence.
Thus, the court granted the request of lawyers and has denied the petition of the prosecutors, who were asked to send the defendants under arrest for six months during the pendency of the case in court. At the hearing, the prosecutors presented to the court a report of the operative employee of FSB, according to which, being at liberty, Melamed and Bowed unable to escape from the court.
According to the court, “the prosecution did not provided sufficient evidence that house arrest will not be able to ensure the smooth of the proceedings”.
In July 2015, SC opened a criminal case on the embezzlement of RUB 220 million in state Corporation “Rosnano” in relation to former executives of the company: Melamed, his Deputy Andrei Malyshev and chief financial officer Ponurova.
