The alleged killer of Russian pilot was in Turkey 5 years in prison for weapons possession

MOSCOW, may 22 — RIA Novosti. Alparslan çelik, claimed responsibility for the murder of Russian pilot Oleg Peshkov, who was sentenced in Turkey to five years in prison for illegal possession of weapons. About it RIA Novosti said the lawyer Murat Ustundag.

“The court did not consider the case of the involvement of Celik death of the Russian pilot Peshkova, the investigation of him continues,” — said the lawyer.

Oleg Peshkov died in Syria, 24 November 2015. Turkish F-16 fighter shot down a Russian bomber su-24, had ejected after the pilot was shot from the ground. The deceased pilot was awarded the title of Hero of Russia.

Immediately after the incident, the responsibility for the death of the pilot took over Alpaslan Celik. During the investigation, the gunman said he didn’t kill the pilot, and ordered his subordinate fighters not to shoot at Peshkov.

In April of last year, Turkish police arrested Celik for the illegal carrying and possession of weapons. The defendant during the investigation denied the charges.
