The first President of the Udmurt Republic died on treatment in Germany

The first President of the Udmurt Republic, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee for science, education and culture Alexander Volkov died may 20 at age 65 in Germany, from the disease, reports RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the MP.

In a German clinic of wolves was undergoing treatment.

Alexander Volkov was born in 1951 in Bryansk and graduated from the Bryansk civil engineering, specialty “industrial and civil construction” and then the Perm Polytechnic Institute. Since 1993, he headed the Council of Ministers of Udmurtia. In 1995 he was elected Chairman of the Republican state Council.

President of the Udmurt Republic of wolves began in 2000. In 2004 he was re-elected to this position, and in 2009 it was approved for another term by decision of the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev. In 2014, the wolves left the post in connection with the expiration of the term of office, and the Parliament had directed him to represent the region in the Federation Council.
