Peskov commented on the rumors about Putin’s visit to France

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin does not comment on rumors of a possible visit of Vladimir Putin to France. On Sunday, may 21, reports “Interfax”.

According to Peskov, if the visit will be prepared, “we will promptly make an announcement.”

Earlier on Sunday, the newspaper “Kommersant”, citing “sources in Paris and Moscow” reported that on may 29, Putin intends to make an unscheduled visit to France that will allow you to personally meet with the new President of Emmanuel Macron. According to the publication, the reason for this will serve as the opening at Versailles, the residence of French kings and the exhibition dedicated to Peter I. In the Kremlin to journalists of the newspaper said that “the agenda of the visit will be rich” and hardly limited to the ceremony.

On may 8, after the announcement of official results of elections in France, Vladimir Putin telegram congratulated the candidate of the movement “Forward!” Emmanuel Makron with a victory. Then in the Kremlin said that “the head of state confirmed his readiness to work constructively on issues of bilateral, regional and global agenda, expressing confidence that it conforms to the fundamental interests of the peoples of Russia and France”.

During the second round of elections Makron got of 66.06 percent of the votes, his rival, the representative of the “National front” marine Le Pen from 33.94 percent. Three million French people in protest have voted with a blank ballot, and one million of their spoil.
