On Friday, may 19, said the head of the Duma Committee on information policy, information technologies and communications Leonid Levin, RIA Novosti reported.

The Deputy who spoke with the report on the activities of the American media for compliance with the Russian legislation, stressed that the work of the mass media in Russia will not be limited. “Freedom of speech under the Constitution is sacred,” he recalled, noting, however, that all publications are required to comply with Russian legislation.

Additional discussion begs the question as to why foreign media broadcasting in the Russian language, receive accreditation at the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, but not registered, Roskomnadzor, also noted Levin.

The actions of the American Parliament on the restriction of the work of the TV channel Russia Today and Sputnik Agency, the deputies saw signs of unfair competition. “An expert of the Higher school of Economics was made an educated guess that the American media community frightened by the quality of work of the Russian media in the English-speaking information space”, — quotes RT Levin.

On 17 March, the state Duma instructed the Committee on information policy to organize a test of the American media — “Radio Liberty”, “Voice of America”, CNN — compliance of their activities with the Russian legislation.
