The Chairman of the joint chiefs of staff of the Armed forces of the United States Joseph Dunford assured Russia that a strike on Syria will not be repeated if there is no threat to American forces. As reported RIA Novosti, he said at a press conference in Washington.
“Our commanders on the ground felt that there were at that moment under threat,” — said the General. In this regard, they considered that the rules of hostilities allowed them to strike, he added.
Dunford said the U.S. side has resumed its dialogue with Russia. “Now carry on conversations at all levels, in order not to repeat such incidents in the future. Last night, I pledged that this will not happen again, if there is no threat to our forces,” he said.
