Possible sanctions against Russia from the United States “for the support of the Syrian authorities” continue the line of Washington: the fight against Assad more important than the fight against terror, said the head of the international Committee of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev.

The house of representatives of U.S. Congress passed on Wednesday a bill providing for sanctions for their support of the Syrian authorities. The rationale for the introduction of sanctions in document declared about numerous violations of human rights by the Syrian authorities headed by President Bashar al-Assad. Only the text of the bill referred 47 persons who, in the opinion of Congress, are responsible for human rights violations in Syria.

“New sanctions against Russia and Iran “for supporting the Assad regime” in Syria, which is referred to in the bill approved by the house of representatives of the U.S. Congress, continue the same line that the oppression of Washington (or at least bend made their political careers as congressmen / congresswomen): the fight against Assad more important than the fight against terror,” the Senator wrote in Facebook.

According to the politician, there are the obvious reasons. “One particular Assad as a target for attacks is much more convenient than terrorism, against which no effective recipes, and those that have interaction with Russia, Iran and Assad the same – very uncomfortable,” said the legislator.

Kosachev believes that after the first reaction – a missile strike, “Washington will have to go on, and all these sanctions initiatives is, in fact, confirm that the White house was correct in his assessment of the events in Syria and in choosing lines of behavior.”

The MP also noted that Washington, in fact, off of Geneva and Astana of the process, “because it plays the role of diplomatic jealousy of the White house and the desire to discredit what is not on his initiative and under his control”.

In addition, the administration trump “has become a hostage mediastart” around what is happening in Syria, when she literally left maneuver when choosing exactly who she needs to direct its activity in Syria: cooperation with Russia, Iran and Turkey against ISIS* or the struggle against the Assad regime, which is accused of all mortal sins in the eyes of the world, said Kosachev.

“Everyone tend to make mistake, but what now occupied the us Congress is a consistent aggravation,” he stated. Americans step by step reduce their opportunities for initiatives to address the real problems of Syria, going on about the media hysteria and becoming their hostage, he concluded.

A bill providing for sanctions for their support of the Syrian authorities, provides that within 30 days after signing the bill the President must impose sanctions against individuals and organizations that provide assistance to the government of Syria to obtain weapons of mass destruction and missile technology or providing other military assistance. After approval by the house the bill goes to the Senate, and then signed by the President.

Also, the house of representatives of U.S. Congress passed on Wednesday a bill which proposes to confirm the accusations of the Russian space forces in the deliberate bombing of the civilian population in Syria. Charges, previously put forward only at the level of statements recorded in the bill number 1677, providing penalties for support, including military, the Syrian authorities.
