INTERFAX.RU — Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee for science, education and culture, ex-President of Udmurtia Alexander Volkov died on Saturday at the 66th year of his life, said the Chairman of the permanent Commission of the state Council of the Republic of Envil Kasimov.
“Died the first President of the Udmurt Republic Alexander Alexandrovich Volkov,” Kasimov wrote on his page in the social network.
In turn, a source familiar with the situation, reported the Agency “Interfax” that the death of Volkova came about an hour ago in Germany where he went for treatment.
Volkov was the President of the Udmurt Republic in 2000-2014, later became a member of the Federation Council from the Republic.
