Moscow. May 19. INTERFAX.RU — the Majority of Russians (80%) expect that the current Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in the presidential elections in 2018, according to Fund “Public opinion”.

One in ten (9%) thinks it will not happen. Undecided 12% of respondents, may 13-14, conducted among 1,500 respondents in 104 settlements of the 53 subjects of the Russian Federation.

If Putin said that he would not run for President in 2018, the majority of Russians would take it negatively (46%) or no particular emotion (35%). Positively this decision would be 14% of respondents.

According to sociologists, the share of Russians who believe that Putin is coping with presidential duties better than during the first two terms of tenure (42% vs. 16% in 2013). About a third (30%) believe that changes for the better — thanks to Putin, and for the worse — due to not dependent reasons.

In his actions, Putin is primarily governed by the opinion of the citizens, convinced by 52% of respondents (in 2013 — 44%). That public opinion Putin is not the most important, said 37% of Russians (in 2013 — 42%). Undecided 11% of respondents.

The next presidential elections will be held in 2018. According to article 81 of the Russian Constitution, the Russian President is elected for a term of six years. The same person may hold the office of President of the Russian Federation more than two terms in a row.

Acting President Putin in 2012 was elected to this post six years after the amendments to the Constitution giving him the right to be elected for a second six-year term.
