Anatoly Antonov
The state Duma Committee on international Affairs endorsed the candidature of Deputy foreign Minister of Russia Anatoly Antonov to the post of Russian Ambassador to the United States. It is reported TASS citing a source in Thursday, may 18.
The corresponding solution MPs adopted at a closed meeting, said the Agency interlocutor.
The meeting participants also discussed further development of relations between Moscow and Washington, announced the results of Antonov. “Was a very interesting exchange of views and substantive discussion on the topic of what should be the Russian-American relations”, — quotes zamglavy Russian diplomatic Agency RIA Novosti.
Antonov believes that Russia and the US should jointly fight international terrorism. He stressed that the two countries have other points of contact. In particular, Moscow and Washington stand for the strengthening of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, reports “Interfax”.
On 16 may, citing a source in the Federation Council it was reported that the international Affairs Committee of the upper house of Parliament the candidacy of Antonova will consider on may 22.
Since 2008 the post of the Russian Ambassador in Washington was occupied by Sergey Kislyak.
