A day earlier, U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson called the failed approach of strategic patience against Iran. “Joint comprehensive plan of action failed in reaching your goal of non-nuclear status of Iran. It only postpones their goal is to become a nuclear state. This transaction represents the failed approach of the past,” he said.

In mid-July, 2015 Iran and the six international mediators (US, Russia, China, Britain, France, and Germany) reached agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program. The Islamic Republic has made commitments to limit work in the field of uranium enrichment in exchange for lifting some sanctions.
