The Secretary General of the OAS accused Venezuelan security forces of crimes against humanity
According to Luis Almagro, the national Bolivarian guard and its leader Benavides Torres “directly responsible for the repression which led to killings, imprisonment and torture.”
WASHINGTON, may 17. /TASS/. The armed forces of Venezuela and the national guard are responsible for violence against anti-government demonstrations in the country. This is stated in the statement of the Secretary-General of the Organization of American States (OAS) Luis Almagro on the situation in the Bolivarian Republic.
“The national Bolivarian guard and its leader, major-General Benavides Torres directly responsible for the repression which led to killings, imprisonment and torture, the statement reads. — The Minister of internal Affairs Vladimir Reverol and major-General Benavides Torres headed by the two organizations authorized to use force in Venezuela. In this sense they are both responsible for every act of aggression, every shot and every death.”
According to Almagro, the Minister of defense Vladimir Padrino Lopez has forced the Venezuelan army evade compliance with “its obligations: to respect the Constitution and the laws.” “The armed forces cannot continue with impunity to kill and torture people, — the document says. — Murder and torture for political reasons, dissent is a crime against humanity, an international crime”.
