The grave robber was arrested after 23 years of searching
In China after 23 years of searching have arrested a local resident who is suspected of looting ancient graves in 1994.
Li Yihai, was arrested may 10 in Hainan province in the South of the country. Police believe he was involved in the robbery of the ancient tombs in the city Jishan in Hebei province 23 years ago. In March 1994, a group of criminals brought from the burial of the mummy of a woman aged approximately 2400 years old, and various valuable items, reports China Daily.
The mummy was found after 39 days after the theft and was subsequently arrested 23 members of a gang of robbers who had seized other stolen items.
Li Yihai was the only member of the gang who remained at large. The police have closed the case and continued the search for the perpetrator, which eventually led to his arrest.
