The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that during a recent conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin discussed the situation with the reporter of “UKRINFORM” Roman Sushchenko. The head of state said at a press conference on Sunday, may 14, reports TASS.

“My last telephone conversation with Putin concerned Ukrainian citizens, who are in Russian prisons. In particular, they talked about the liberation of the Roman Sushchenko,” — said Poroshenko. He did not specify when was this conversation.

In late April, “Kommersant” reported on a secret telephone conversation of the presidents of the two countries. The Kremlin said that the Russian leader performs daily variety of contacts, including on international lines, while not all of them informs a press-service. In March, the publication also wrote that the leaders of the two countries since the beginning of 2017 four times and talked on the phone.

Sushchenko, since October last year, detained in Moscow, accused of espionage. The FSB believes that he, being the personnel officer of the Main intelligence Directorate of the defense Ministry of Ukraine, collected information about the Russian army.
