Ozerov commented on reports Fox on the supply of Russian howitzers in Syria

Russia may send Syria additional weapons, including artillery, for the protection of its troops, told RIA Novosti the head of the Federation Council Committee on defense and security Viktor Ozerov.

Earlier, Fox News channel reported shipment by Russia to Syria of the order of 20 M-30 howitzers. Such tools already consist on arms of the Syrian army and is in storage in Russia.

“I don’t see any reason to worry about our Western colleagues. Russia is in Syria the fight against terrorism, to fight with anyone not going, and if there is a need to strengthen our artillery units for the protection of places of a dislocation of our troops, there is nothing criminal,” — said Ozerov.

He recalled that the Federation Council to the President consent to the use of troops in Syria the number and types of weapons are not specified, so the increase in their number may occur without the approval of the senators.
