The state Department has ruled out the imminent lifting of sanctions against Russia

Moscow. May 10. INTERFAX.RU — U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson during the talks with Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed the necessity of progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements on Ukraine, said in a press release issued by the state Department following the meeting.

“In regard to Ukraine, Secretary of state Tillerson stressed the need for progress towards the full implementation of the Minsk agreements”, — stated in the message.

The state Department emphasizes that the question of cancellation of sanctions against Russia is not relevant. “Sanctions against Russia will remain in force as long as Moscow will not cancel the steps that triggered their introduction,” — said in a press release.

At a press conference following talks in Washington Sergei Lavrov said that the sanctions issue was not raised at the meeting with the President of the United States Donald trump, nor on the negotiations with Tillerson.

The sanctions we are discussing. It’s not our problem. This kind of unilateral action that was taken against us.Sergey Lavrovgave the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation
