Putin discussed with the Prime Minister of Israel on Syrian issue

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed during a telephone conversation Syrian settlement, according to the Kremlin website on Wednesday, may 10.

The conversation was held on Israel’s initiative. “The sides discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation and the situation in middle East settlement and issues of the Syrian crisis”, — stated in the message.

Netanyahu also congratulated Putin and all Russian people on the 72nd anniversary of the great Victory. “Russia and Israel will continue to strongly oppose the revision of the results of the Second world war, belittling the decisive contribution of the Soviet Union in the victory over Nazi Germany and Holocaust denial,” notes on the website.

The conversation took place in anticipation of meeting the Russian leader with the head of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas, which is scheduled for may 11 in Sochi.

The Prime Minister of Israel visited Moscow on 9 March. During the visit, he met with Putin. The politicians discussed a number of issues concerning the situation in Syria and the fight against terrorism.
