Official Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the statement of the President of the United States Donald trump that Russia is responsible for the implementation of the Minsk agreements. About it the correspondent “Tapes.ru”.
“We have repeatedly said that Russia is not a party to the Minsk agreements, it is a country-guarantor, as France and Germany”, — said the press Secretary of the President of Russia.
He recalled that in the document it was clearly stated what conditions must be fulfilled. “There is no room for free interpretations of the Minsk agreements”, — said Peskov.
After a meeting of the President of trump and Secretary of state Rex Tillerson with the foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov, held on may 10, the White house said that the American leader at the talks raised the issue of Ukraine. As noted in the US administration, the President reiterated the commitment of Washington to the resolution of the conflict and emphasized the responsibility of Moscow for the full implementation of the Minsk agreements.
Lavrov in turn said that Russia and the United States agreed to continue discussions on several issues, including the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, RIA Novosti.
In February 2015 the leaders of Russia, France, Germany and Ukraine have signed a package of measures to implement the Minsk agreements. In the document, in particular, spelled out the cease-fire holding in Ukraine of the constitutional reform, the holding of elections in the Donbass (this and many other aspects of the peace settlement, implementation of which is assigned to Kiev, not yet implemented).
