The speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko has proposed to prohibit the use of St. George ribbons and other symbols of the Victory for commercial purposes. On Thursday, may 11, she said in an interview with “Arguments of week”.

“Illegal commercialization of symbols of Victory. When, for example, the ribbons used in advertising or become something of a trendy meme, without due respect to them,” she said, noting that earlier initiatives aimed at preventing the devaluation of the characters need to make in the bill.
