MOSCOW, may 8 — RIA Novosti. The Governor of the U.S. state of Texas Greg Abbott signed a law that prohibits “cities of refuge” for refugees, and also allows officers to know the immigration status of any person they stop.

As noted by the Fox News channel, the Texas Governor had made any public notice about his intention to sign the law by broadcasting it through social network Facebook.

“Tonight, I signed a law that prohibits cities of refuge in Texas. Severe punishment of violators,” wrote Abbott on his Twitter page. During the broadcast on Facebook he noted that any officials, including police officers who refuse to carry out the provision of the law could face dismissal and even jail time.

Earlier, the US administration decided to refuse Federal funding for so-called “cities of refuge”, which the government does not give illegal immigrants law enforcement agencies. President Donald trump called the cities “a very dangerous and very bad”. According to him, all “law enforcement officers believe that the cities is a disaster”.
