The DPRK announced the arrest of a U.S. citizen

Moscow. May 7. INTERFAX.RU — North Korea announced the arrest of a citizen of the United States, staff members of the Pyongyang University of science and technology, reported on Sunday, Western media, citing the Central Telegraph Agency of Korea.

According to the Agency, a US citizen by the name of Kim HAK-Dream arrested may 6 on suspicion of committing “hostile acts”. What exactly are they, the Agency did not specify.

In April, the North Korean authorities detained another U.S. citizen, an employee of the same University. 58-year-old Professor Tony Kim was detained at the airport in Pyongyang at the time when my wife was going to fly to China.

Thus, the number of Americans detained in the DPRK is now four people.

The Pyongyang University of science and technology is the only higher educational institution that was founded on private funds. The University is distinguished by unusually high for the DPRK, the share of foreign teaching staff.
