Moscow. May 5. INTERFAX.RU — More 53,5 thousand awards to the participants of the great Patriotic war is still not handed over to the owners, said the head of the Central archive of the defense Ministry Igor Permyakov in an interview with the newspaper “Red star”.
“Not one month, not without requests to look for the reward of some of the veterans. And we are especially joyful occasions when their awards after so many years are themselves veterans. Today the archive staff confirmed information about 53 thousand 573 awards that remain non-handed,” said Perm.
He noted that the search for those who were awarded, but the medals are not received, remain time-consuming.
“Soldiers can get wounded and after hospital did not return to his unit because he was directed to another or even discharged. There was a war. While the reward sought your man, he could die in battle. And after the war, not all returned from whence recruited,” said head of archive.
However, he added that with the advent of electronic database of premium materials, the search is much faster, whereas before you were required to manually review dozens of cases.
