The organizers of the Eurovision song contest has threatened Russia and Ukraine sanctions
MOSCOW, may 4 — RIA Novosti. The European broadcasting Union allows the introduction of sanctions against Russia and Ukraine due to violations of the Charter of “Eurovision”. It is reported by ZDF Heute with reference to the head of the organizing Committee of the Frank-Dieter Freiling.
According to him, as the host country, Kiev has pledged to ensure the performance of all participants in 2017 and does not execute it against the Russian singer Yulia Samoilova.
He noted that Russia has also violated the rules of the Eurovision song contest, because the members of its delegation was not present at mandatory meetings at the beginning of the year.
As explained by the head of the organizing Committee, the decision on sanctions has not yet been made, but this issue will be discussed at next week. What measures will be taken in respect of Ukraine and Russia, announced after the Eurovision, he added.
The Statute in this case provides several options of sanctions from monetary fines and deprivation of sponsorship, to exclusion from participation in the contest for a period of up to three Lefranc-Dieter Frielinghaus of the organizing Committee of “Eurovision”
