Russia will have the world’s first civilian submarine-scanner

Moscow. May 3. INTERFAX.RU — the world’s First civil nuclear-powered submarine was designed in Russia for seismic exploration of the seabed, reports the newspaper “Izvestia” with reference to the chief designer of Central design Bureau for marine engineering “Rubin” Eugene Toporov.

“The new submarine jointly developed by advanced research Foundation (DRF) and the Central design Bureau for marine engineering “Rubin” (ckbm, part of United shipbuilding Corporation). Novelty is equipped with a multi-meter “wings-sensors” that not only look under the ground at a few tens of meters, but also create a three-dimensional model of the seabed”, — says the publication.

Axe noted that the unique construction of the submarine will begin in 2020.
