Rostov border guards used weapons against the smugglers
ROSTOV-ON-DON, may 3 — RIA Novosti, Ivan Kapustin. The employees of the border guard used weapons against the smugglers during the chase on the border with Ukraine, reported RIA Novosti the representative PU of the FSB in the Rostov region.
“The border Department of the FSB of Russia in the Rostov region prevented the deal on illicit cross-border movement of a large consignment of contraband for the sum more than 1 million rubles. During detention of participants of illegal activity along the border had to use weapons. Attackers by swapping across the border received the contraband goods and tried on two cars UAZ “Patriot” and “VAZ-2109″ — to break into the Russian territory, ignoring the legitimate demands of border guards to stop,” — said the Agency interlocutor.
He added that the cars of smugglers maneuvered in a dangerous manner and endangering the lives and health of employees. In this regard, the border guards were forced, after warning shots to use the weapon. According to him, the detainees were not injured.

According to a source in law enforcement bodies of the region, the detainees tried to move across the border a large shipment of cigarettes.
“The smugglers are arrested, and smuggled vehicles moved through border of the goods seized. Trial is carried out. For such acts, in addition to prosecution for violation of the border regime (article 18.1 of the administrative code) and disobeying the legitimate demands of border patrol (article 18.7 of the administrative code), the offenders can be prosecuted under article 318 of the Criminal Code of Russian Federation (application of violence concerning the representative of authority), which provides for punishment of imprisonment for up to 5 years”, — said the border guard.
