Putin has banned swearing and numbers in children’s names

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin has signed a decree banning the use of children’s names, numbers, swear words and characters (other than hyphen). The text of the document published on Monday, may 1, on the official portal of legal information.

According to the amendments, not allowed well as the ranks, positions, titles and alphanumeric designations. At the same time allowed to give the baby a double surname composed of the surnames of the parents. It is written with a hyphen, and it cannot be more than two words.

The relevant law on April 21, the state Duma adopted in the third final reading. The author of the initiative, designed to protect the interests of children — Senator Valentina Petrenko.

In 2014 in the Perm territory the child was born, who was named Lucifer Konstantinovich Menshikov. His younger brother was given the name Waldemar.

In 2002 in Moscow, the child was given the name BOC RVF 260602 (an abbreviation of “Biological object of man kind Voronin — frolovs born 26 June 2002”). The Registrar refused to issue the documents. The boy’s parents appealed to the Strasbourg court, but the proceedings were refused.
