The abduction of girls for marriage will be punished with up to three years in prison. The bill deputies of the National Assembly of Ingushetia in the Duma introduced. The document is published in the database of the Parliament.
“To amend the criminal code of Russia… changing, adding to it the following article: “the abduction of persons for the purpose of marriage was punishable by hard labor for a term up to three years or imprisonment for the same term”, — stated in the bill.
Earlier, a proposal to punish the abduction of girls was made by the speaker of the Parliament of Ingushetia, Zelimkhan Yevloev. According to the politician, it often happens that incidents of abduction of brides end in bloodshed. On 8 April the village of Kantyshevo in Ingushetia, a young man kidnapped the girl to marry her. During the abduction, the man’s accomplices caused bodily injury to the mother and brother of the girl. Later, the bride was able to return home. The man who organized the kidnapping, was arrested.
