The Russian foreign Ministry criticized the findings of the French investigation into the attack in Idlib

In Moscow criticized the study of France on the alleged use of chemical weapons in the Syrian province of Idlib. The commentary Thursday, April 27, published on the Russian MFA website.

In particular, the Agency expressed doubt that the samples are received by the intelligence agencies of France on the site of the alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria credible. The foreign Ministry asked, under what circumstances, the French side received samples, taken directly on the scene. Either the French secret service had selected them themselves, having access to territory controlled by fighters, or the samples obtained in some other place. In accordance with international rules designed to analyze the samples must be guaranteed to be fully intact all the way from the scene to the lab, said the Minister.

The foreign Ministry also recalled that in the “ready” form of sarin in Syria has never been, had only its precursors, which in full was taken out of the country in 2014. A mobile unit which could be produced the synthesis of sarin, has been destroyed, which is confirmed and the Organization for the prohibition of chemical weapons (OPCW).

“Once again we call for an end unworthy “political games” around the Syrian chemical dossier and to take steps, where for three weeks, insists Russia: aiming directly at Khan shaykhun and shirt the team of specialists, which would include also representatives of countries not blinded by the hatred of the legitimate government of Syria”, — concluded the Ministry.

Wednesday, April 26, foreign Minister of France Jean-Marc Ayrault presented the conclusions of the experts regarding the use of toxic chemicals in Khan Sheyhun. According to the statements of the French side, in Idlib had used sarin gas, and the responsibility for its application lies with the Syrian authorities.

April 4, the Syrian opposition said about the alleged use by forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad, chemical weapons in Idlib province, resulting in 87 people were killed and over 200 injured.

On the night of 7 April, the United States in response to allegedly conducted by government forces the Syrian attack with chemical weapons launched an airstrike against Syrian airbase in HOMS. Two warships of the United States in the Mediterranean sea fired at least 50 rockets “the Tomahawk”.

April 20, Assad called the incident in Khan Sheyhun provocation, noting that no chemical attack was not. The Syrian government army strikes on targets of militants in Khan Sheyhun, but didn’t use the chemical weapons. The attack was carried out at the wrong time, which indicate the Western countries.

Moscow on the same day submitted to the OPCW a range of evidence demonstrating the nature of the staging of the incident with the possible use of chemical warfare agents. However, the organization by a majority of votes rejected the proposal of Russia and Iran.
