Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday during a visit to NPO “Saturn” — one of the leading enterprises “United engine Corporation” — launched a large-scale project in the field of import substitution production in Russia of ship gas turbine engines, which are designed to replace previously purchased from the Ukrainian enterprises of the power plant.
In the presence of the President of the company has started testing gas-turbine units of M-35P-1 engine M-70ФРУ-2 for marine programs. Putin from the control room gave the command for the technical commissioning of gas turbine unit. Its tests are conducted in a unique Assembly and test complex built in the enterprise.
The head of state thanked the employees of NPO “Saturn”, noting that the President is present at a historical for the Russian economy.
Putin reminded that the roots of today’s events in 2014, “when some partners refused to supply to Russia.” “Then we decided: let’s not do something higher, and will develop their own new products, new solutions, new machines, and we even went so far as to shift to the right the program of rearmament of the Russian fleet, waiting for your car”, — said Putin.
For his part, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin told reporters that the incident today in “Saturn” — “it’s not just the start of production of the new engine, this is the beginning of a new industry — gas turbine engine”.
“Until now, all ship’s gas turbine engines were going only in Ukraine, in Nikolaev. Today is actually the launch of a new industry — ship engine”, — he said.
Vice Prime Minister stressed that the industry was created in record time — in fact, over two-and-a-half years from the time of the decision. “It will be the most different machines of different sizes, including the hovercraft,” — said Rogozin.
“We didn’t do it. They (the Ukrainian side) thought that they put us in the corner, and we will not be able to finish the construction of the frigates, but we did it,” — said Dmitry Rogozin.
