In Kiev robbed the grave of the classic of Ukrainian literature

In Kiev unknown robbed the grave of Ukrainian poetess Lesya Ukrainka at Baikove cemetery. It is reported Gazeta.ua with reference to the channel “espresso”.

As the newspaper notes, from the gravestone vandals were stolen bronze elements. At the scene works investigative team.

On 20 April it was reported that in the Dnipropetrovsk region, two local residents attempted to dismantle the monument to the Unknown officer, to hand over it on scrap metal. Men cut bronze sculpture to pieces and have already started shipping it in the car when the police arrived.

In August of 2016 in the village of Shevchenkove, Cherkasy oblast, the birthplace of the poet Taras Shevchenko, the unknown stole a bronze monument to the classic of Ukrainian literature. In the administration of the reserve “homeland of Taras Shevchenko” expressed confidence that the attackers passed the monument as scrap metal.

Lesya Ukrainka (real name Larisa Kosach-Kvitka) is considered a classic of Ukrainian literature. The poet was born in 1871 in Novohrad-Volyns’kyi, died in 1913 in Georgia.
