South Ossetia remained without electricity because of bad weather

Hurricane-force winds and avalanches have caused the breakage of the chains in the mountains of North Ossetia. Because of this, the electricity has ceased to flow in South Ossetia, told TASS in the Interregional distribution grid company (IDGC) of Northern Caucasus on Sunday, April 23.

“In the mountains of North Ossetia came a lot of avalanches, plus there was a hurricane that damaged the line networks. Now the whole of South Ossetia is de-energized,” — said the Agency interlocutor. He added that all efforts are aimed at elimination of consequences of bad weather.

In the official report of IDGC of the North Caucasus States that “on April 23 MSK 9.36 effect of protection disconnected three air-lines 110 kV that supplies consumers in South Ossetia. Automatic and manual reclosing was not successful.”

“Currently in the heart strong, gusty winds observed avalanches that could cause a power supply shutdown. Experts conducted an inspection of air lines running in remote mountain areas”, — stated in the message.
