British scientists: Cycling is twice as reduces the risk of cancer

According to the results of many years of research conducted by a team of British scientists from Glasgow, the use of a bike twice reduces the risk of cancer and heart attack.

In the study, which lasted five years, was attended by 250 thousand volunteers. All of them used the Bicycle as means of transport and not as an additional exercise, what could be going to the gym.

The study participants drove on average 30 miles per week (48 kilometers).

All 250 thousand participants used the Bicycle as means of transport or drove all the way to work, travelled by Bicycle part of the way.

Cycling almost halve the risk of death for patients.

The study found that regular Cycling had reduced the risk of death by 41%, in the case of cancer by 45%, heart disease by 46%.

Hiking also reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, but do not affect cancer risk. However, in order to feel this effect, it is necessary to place not less than six miles per week (about 9 kilometers).

During this time 2430 volunteers participated in the study died. At 3748 of them was diagnosed with cancer, 1110 — problem with the heart.

“This is a clear proof that the people who are moving, especially on bikes are at a reduced risk,” said bi-Bi-si one of the researchers Dr Jason Gill.

“We need to change our infrastructure to make it more adapted to cyclists,” he added.
