The first round of elections of the President of Albania was held without candidates and ended in 10 minutes. About it reports Reuters.
According to the Constitution, the President is elected by Parliament. There are five rounds of elections: in the first three for approval of the candidate the necessary votes of two thirds of deputies. If the President during this time is not elected, then his claim by a simple majority.
However, due to the fact that members of the opposition party of Albania, which has 50 seats out of 140, two months ago, demonstratively left the hall of sittings of the National Assembly and since then has not returned to gain a two-thirds majority is physically impossible. Albania is now a political crisis. The democratic party demands resignation of the government formed by the ruling Socialist party, and the establishment of the interim office.
