Russia’s investigative Committee in absentia charged with organizing the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare two Ukrainian servicemen Sergey Zabolotny and Oleg Gromadsky, who conducted shelling of civilians in the Donbass, said the official representative SK the Russian Federation Svetlana Petrenko.

“The Department on investigation of crimes involving the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare, GSU SK Russia was charged in absentia with committing a crime under part 3 of article 33, part 1 of article 356 of the criminal code (organizing the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare) to the commander of the 58 separate motorized infantry brigade of the armed forces of Ukraine Colonel Sergey Zabolotny and the commander of the 16 private 58 infantry battalion separate infantry brigade of the armed forces Colonel Oleg Gromadsky”, — said the official representative SK the Russian Federation Svetlana Petrenko.

According to the investigation, in 2016 in the area of Avdeevka, Zabolotny colluded with Gromadski and other unidentified persons from among the military personnel, is directed to the use of artillery indiscriminate for the application of artillery strikes on civilian infrastructure, which are not military objectives, and civilians not involved in armed confrontation.

“In fact, the defendants organized crimes, as their official position commanders allowed to influence and decide about the use of artillery weapons. They are also involved in criminal activity of perpetrators and the subsequent coordinated and guided their actions”, — stated in the message.

It is noted that in April and June 2016 Zabolotny, Gromadsky, and other persons from among soldiers of the brigade, carrying out obviously criminal orders of the higher officials of the defense Ministry of Ukraine and the national guard of Ukraine, has organized a sighting artillery fire from heavy weapons with a caliber of at least 82 millimeters of civilian infrastructure in the village of Spartak, Donetsk region and the city Yasinovataya.

“As a result of these attacks damaged houses and severely wounded a local resident. The crime is committed publicly dangerous method, and during the fire danger had been the lives of other civilians living nearby,” — said Petrenko.
