Acting Governor of Sverdlovsk region Yevgeny Kuyvashev said that it will participate in the presidential elections in the region in September this year. His words leads TASS on Wednesday, April 19.
“Yes, I will participate in gubernatorial elections,” he said at a meeting of the government of Sverdlovsk region.
Kuyvashev emphasized that perceives its purpose “as a sign of trust, support, of course, which today is the Sverdlovsk oblast”.
“I believe that trust is given not only to me but to all of you, members of my team, so for the upcoming elections we go as one team,” he added.
On 17 April about the Governor’s ambitions, said the mayor of Yekaterinburg Yevgeny Roizman. He stressed that “never lost one election” in the Sverdlovsk region. On the same day the President of Russia Vladimir Putin accepted the early resignation of Sverdlovsk region Yevgeny Kuyvashev and appointed him acting Governor.
Director of the Institute of regional problems Dmitry Zhuravlev said in comments to the National news service (NSN) that political competition between the mayor of the regional center and the Governor of the traditional, as their assets are about the same. “Roizman is a specific figure, he is politically very active, he’s not just the mayor, his participation in the election of the Governor is just the next step,” — said the expert.
Kuyvashev has topped the region in 2012. In 2011 he was appointed presidential Plenipotentiary representative in the Urals Federal district. From July 2007 until January 2011 he was the head of administration of Tyumen. From December 2005 to July 2007 — head of administration of Tobolsk.
