Yamal fisherman sent to correctional work for sturgeon

The magistrate court of the Yamal district of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous region was sentenced to correctional labor local resident Yuri Yakimov, had rescued Obi one sturgeon. This was reported on the website of the Prosecutor’s office of Yamal.

The incident occurred on 29 December 2016. Yakimov with an ice pick mounted on the river near the village of Salemal fishing net, which came sturgeon, listed in the Red book.

Biological resources caused damage estimated at 10 thousand rubles. Yakimov voluntarily repaid this sum to the trial.

The man was sentenced to five months of corrective works with deduction of 10 percent of wages in state revenue. Fish, network, and ice axe will be destroyed.

In the summer of 2016 in the Khabarovsk region, the border guards seized from a local resident about a ton of sturgeon, the fishing of which is prohibited by law. Also seized rifled weapons like the SKS and 30 rounds of ammunition.
